Abstract

The study on spatial analysis on groundwater potability in Barangay Dadiangas West and Dadiangas South, General Santos City was conducted to generate a map using Quantum GIS software. The data gathered in this study were the latitude, longitude, Total dissolved solids, electrical conductivity, pH, hardness in on-site gathering, while data onq turbidity, Escherichia coliform and total suspended solids are gathered in a laboratory. It aims to determine the groundwater potability of water source using a spatial analysis of each water quality parameters and water quality index of the samples. Based on the data gathered, the hardness, total dissolved solids, total suspended solids, electrical conductivity, pH and turbidity ranges from 189 - 994 ppm, 202 - 1083 ppm, 0- 30.8 ppm, 0.387-1.62 μS,7-8 and 0-21.83 NTU, respectively. Based on the results on water quality index, 32.81 % was not potable or grade E, while 0% was excellent water quality or grade A. Good, Poor and Very poor water quality has 31.25%,15.63% and 20.31% of the total water samples gathered respectively. Therefore, none of the water are suitable for drinking since there are no samples with 0-25 water quality index calculated. For future study it is recommended to develop and make another spatial analysis on groundwater potability map in the same area but in a different season to further analyze the groundwater quality. Also, more parameters should be added to come up to high accuracy.
