This is a descriptive-correlational study on the "Level of Financial Literacy and Extent of Saving Behavior of Mother-Teachers: A Correlational Study". It aimed to assess the level of financial literacy of mother-teachers, measured in two aspects namely; financial knowledge and financial management, and also determined their extent of saving behavior. A correlation was measured between the level of financial literacy and the extent of saving behavior.
The study was conducted among 40 mothers who are public school teachers in both primary and secondary schools in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City. They were taken through a non-probability purposive sampling method and were identified through the snowball technique. The survey questionnaire was administered to the respondents have met the criteria required to participate in the study, in a face-to-face manner.
In the analysis of data, computed Means were used for statement indicators. Mean and grand mean were computed to measure the levels of financial literacy and extent of saving behavior. Pearson product-moment correlation or Pearson r was used to measuring the relationship of variables.
Findings showed that mother-teachers' level of financial literacy in terms of financial knowledge gained a grand mean of 4.49 verbally described as "high". Their level of financial management also gained a grand mean of 4.38 verbally described as "high". In general, their level of financial literacy gained a grand mean of 4.34 verbally described as "high". Similarly, their extent of saving behavior got a grand mean of 3.94 with a verbal description of "high". For the correlation, using Pearson r, mother-teachers level of financial literacy and extent of their saving behavior have a strong significant positive relationship at a 0.01 significance level.
It is recommended that teachers be provided training courses on financial literacy for self-efficacy and economic resilience in times of humanitarian emergencies.
