This is a quantitative study on dormitory conditions as perceived by the residents of Mindanao State University - General Santos City Dormitories, which aimed to gather and analyze data on their socio-demographic backgrounds, perceptions on dormitory personnel, facilities, and activities.
This study used a descriptive survey design and employed non-probability sampling particularly using purposeful sampling in determining 66 respondents. The respondents were bonafide occupants of the dormitories. A self-constructed questionnaire informally validated by the panel members was used in gathering the data. Analysis of data was done through the use of statistical tools, such as mean, frequency, and percentage distribution.
Findings reveal that most residents are young being college students. They came from various ethnic groups and religious affiliation dominated by Cebuanos and B'laans. Most of the respondents are paying their tuition fees and they have been living in the dormitory for 1-2 years.
Findings also revealed that the respondents were satisfied about the personnel, facilities, rules and regulations, and activities in the dormitories. And in terms of the implementation of the rules and regulations, they were also satisfied.
The problems encountered in relation to the personnel was the favoritism of the management to some residents. Respondents also observed that the facilities were not well-maintained, such as comfort rooms, kitchen halls, and laundry area. They also said that not all residents obey the dormitory rules and regulations.
