Abstract

The growing recognition of the policing system in the Philippines resulted in a great realization of how important Police-Community Relations. In the Philippines, several case studies explored the relationship between the challenges of trust and information, and its status in terms of empowering the Philippine National Police (PNP) at the community level. To expand the existing literature related to community policing, this study explored the effectiveness and importance of community policing in the Barangay Fatima, General Santos City. This research study adopted qualitative analysis. It is a descriptive type of research. The data were derived from the open- ended interview with the researcher and the respondents. The results of the study confirmed the following assumptions: a) Community officers uphold their duty by taking responsibility, partnering with the barangay officials, in terms of maintaining a safe and orderly environment and responding quickly during emergencies; b) the working relationship between the community and the police officer is maintaining trust and information; and c) proposed plan should be based on the mandate of the PNP, as well as prioritizing the safety of its jurisdiction or community.
