THE CHILDREN IN CONFLICT WITH THE LAW (CICLs) IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY AND THE PROTECTIONS GIVEN BY THE LAW

Abstract

There are minors that are involved in crimes and according to the pattern of their crimes are using or participating in prohibited drugs activity, rape, theft, robbing, and murder. The crimes of juvenile delinquents are dangerous in society however, they are still minors or children that are still developing their maturity that development as a child. is why the government provided those laws that will enable them to be protected from inhumane treatment, exploitation, abuse, and neglect that is essential in their

To gather data we used the qualitative method. The information that we gathered is based on KII for the CICL, house parent, and social workers. The archival records were given by the CSWDO that was verified true and correct.

The result of the study shows that there are laws and protection for CICL The social workers and PNP are part of handling the CICL in their case and procedures. The CICL in General Santos was lessened due to the effect of Covid 19 lockdown and curfew and the pattern of their crimes vary in number but the same offenses with a higher result for taking prohibited drugs. The study found that there are international and national laws also programs that aim to protect the CICLs in General Santos City. Moreover, it is also found that among the five risk factors by Michael Arthur together with the Social-ecological model of development by Bronfenbrenner, peers are the most common factor for children becoming at risk of offending. Lastly, it shows that from the year 2019 to law committed. 2021 prohibited drugs are the most common offense children in conflict with the law committed.
