This paper seeks to determine and evaluate the Problems and Effects of the Curriculum transition on the selected Old, Irregular, and Transferee Students of Mindanao State University - General Santos City due to the shift of education system in The Philippines. The study also seeks out the actions taken by the faculty and staff of Mindanao State University - GSC, and the Commission on Higher Education, to address the issues faced by the Old, Irregular, or Transferee students during the transition of the curriculums. The researcher used key informats interview and archival from government's mandate/s in gathering the data relevant to the study. A qualitative descriptive type of research through thematic, content and narrative analysis is utilized to analyze the data gathered.
The study found out that the transition of curriculums (from old to new) had created some problems to some of the old, Irregular, and Transferee students or the "remnant students" who were enrolled from the old curriculum. The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) launched a Lifelong Learner Track program to help the students affected by the K-12 curriculum transitions to resolve the issues of the Out of School Youth, or the returning students. MSU - GSC had its own unique way of addressing the academic issues, faced by the affected Old, Irregular, and Transferee students during the transition of curriculum.
