Abstract

This study is specifically concerned with access to social protection of residents in Purok Islam and Purok Tinago in Barangay South, General Santos City. The major objective of this study is to determine the accessibility of the social protection programs, providing social protection given by the different institutions, and the level of satisfaction towards the different services of the residents in Barangay South, General Santos City.

The study aims to determine the services availed by the residents of the two Puroks in Barangay South, providing social protection given by the different institutions, and measure the level of satisfaction towards the different services. A mixed-method was employed in this study. The survey questionnaire was the primary tool used in gathering data. This was supplemented with a Key Informant Interview (KII).

The result of the study showed that the access to social protection of residents in Barangay South performed their duty to provide the help that is needed in the barangay. The Barangay Social Welfare Development is performing its functions efficiently in the locality and it is observed by the residents. The finding in some areas indicates that improvements are still needed. They might be accessed positively but there are still loopholes within the organization and not enough to conclude that the respondents are satisfied with the social protection programs.
