THE FACTORS INFLUENCING THE ACADEMIC BEHAVIOR OF THE ACCOUNTANCY STUDENTS OF MINDANAO STATE UNIVERSITY - GENERAL SANTOS CITY

Abstract

Employers look at academic achievement as one of the most essential factors when hiring new graduates. As a result, students must put forth the greatest effort in their studies in order to earn good grades and prepare for future employment opportunities while also satisfying the employer's criteria. The goal of this study was to discover the factors that influenced students' academic behavior. The study's main finding was based on primary data obtained from 66 accounting students at Mindanao State University in General Santos City. The data was analyzed using weighted mean and Chi-square to test the hypothesis. The majority of the respondents who were influenced by the factors are fourth-year; female students aged 18-20 who attended public schools, according to the findings. It was also found that teacher-related factor is the most critical factor which influences students. This result displayed that the students have high regard to the Personality Trait Theory (PTT), meaning, respondents place a high emphasis on individual characteristics and values. Results also showed that there was an association between demographics and factors affecting academic performance of students. As a result, some recommendations for students and the academe to improve the learning system in order for students to be more effective in their academic work have been identified.
