This research study aims to provide the knowledge and wide information to the people highlighting the role and function of Philippine Coast Guard of General Santos City as security actor in achieving the security (public, interest, resources, etc.) for making inclusive, safe and resilient by presenting these paper entitled "Securing of borders in Sarangani bay: A case study on Philippine Coast Guard in General Santos City".
More specifically, it aims to identify not just the role and function of Philippine Coast Guard of General Santos City but also provide the knowledge or lessons to which the Coast Guard contributes in achieving security on how they do so, what specific obligation, and the actions they employed as a coast guard who are tasked to maintain and securitize the borders in Sarangani.
This research study is primarily descriptive in its nature and qualitative in its analysis. Its primary data were obtained by researcher through in-depth interviews with its selective key informants such as the Assistant Commander of two (2) station of Philippine Coast of General Santos City located at the Makar Wharf Port station and General Santos Fish Port station.
Contrary to what has often been assumed, the roles and functions of Philippine Coast of General Santos City have a large contribution on the attribution of securitizing the border in Sarangani Bay. The findings of this research study indicate the effectiveness of how the Philippine Coast Guard of General Santos performed their roles and functions to maintain security.
