Abstract

As embodied in Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Joint Memorandum Circular No. 2018-01, and Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) Board Regulation No. 03-2017, this study assessed the functionality of BADAC members in the performance of their duties and functions in three (3) phases of drug clearing operations in the barangay. It also includes the respondents' demographics and the significant relationship between BADAC members' and community respondents' perceptions of functionality.

The correlation method was used in this study. When a researcher examines two variables, understands and assesses the statistical relationship between them with no influence from any extraneous variable, correlation research is a form of non-experimental research approach. A total of seven (7) BADAC members and twenty-three (23) purok or sitio leaders would participate in the study as community respondents who were randomly selected. The survey questionnaire was the main method of data collection. BADAC members and community members were both asked to fill out the questionnaire.

The result from the test is the p-value of the relationship between the perceived extent of implementation on anti-drug clearing operations among BADAC Members and Community Residents is 0.00, which is less than the alpha level (0.00 < 0.05), the null hypothesis is rejected, indicating that the variables have a significant relationship. Given the fact that the results of this study show that the Barangay Anti-

Drug Abused Council of Barangay Poblacion, Malungon Sarangani Province is performing its functions as assessed, there are still recommendations that have been made. More intervention programs from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG), the Municipality of Malungon, and other government agencies are needed to help BADAC members become more capable. Additional financial assistance from the Malungon Local Government Unit, partner agencies, and other non-government organizations should be provided to the Barangay Anti-Drug Clearing operations to ensure their long-term sustainability. And to achieve a Drug-Free community, BADAC members must continue to engage and mobilize all members of the community and other stakeholders in the campaign against illegal substances.
