THE LEVEL OF AWARENESS OF HALAL FOODS CONSUMPTION AMONG THE MUSLIM COMMUNITY OF BARANGAY DALIAO, MAASIM, SARANGANI PROVINCE

Abstract

Over recent decades, the concept of halal has been a concern for all Muslims. Consuming halal food is very essential in our lives. It is our obligation to eat only halal and avoid haram foods. The study was concerned about the level of awareness of halal food consumption among the Muslim community of Brgy. Daliao, Maasim Sarangani province. The purpose of this study is to determine the level of awareness regarding consumption of halal foods. Using the quantitative research method, the researcher found that most of the respondents are aware that the foods they buy in the market are halal, and they check the label first before buying the product. In terms of their ways to buy goods, the ways of the respondents to choose halal goods are based on the visibility of the halal logo on the products, with 29 (96.7%), which got the highest total. Many of the respondents are aware of the Islamic Dawah Council of the Philippines (IDCP) and Muslim Mindanao Halal Certification Board Inc. (MMCBI) organizations on halal logos in the Philippines, and they also believe that these organizations have guidelines to be followed.
