Abstract

Vermicompost are composted organic matter and worm manure or cast that now recognized as high value material which when blended with soil can restored soil tilt by correcting imbalance caused by the over utilization of pro chemical based fertilizer: thus vermicompost are easy to apply, easy to handle and easy for storing, best of all its odorless. Can improve soil structure, texture, aeration, and water holding capacity and prevent soil erosion. This study was conducted at Mindanao State University campus, General Santos City from January to april 2019. To evaluate the effects of varied levels of vermicompost as soil incorporated fertilizers on the agronomic and green pod yield of pole sitao. The experiment was carried out using Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD). The treatments used were T1- control (no application); T2-14-14 14 (complete fertilizer); T3- 5t/ha; T4-10t/ha; T5-20t/ha vermicompost. The treatments used were replicated three times. The result of the study revealed that application of vermicompost at varied levels had no significant effect on germination period, flowering period, pod length number of pods, weight of pods, marketable of pods, non-marketable pods and green pod yield of pole sitao. The use of vermicompost maybe optional , however, considering the benefits of this material on the soil and succeeding crops, the farmer may have the option to use vermicompost at the rate of 10t/ha.
