THE EFFECTS OF TRADITIONAL: BELIEFS AND PRACTICES OF THE KAGAN TRIBE ON THE MUSLIM MORO MILLENIALS OF BARANGAY BINCUNGAN TAGUM CITY, DAVAO DEL NORTE

This study entitled the effects of traditional beliefs and practices of the Kagan tribe on the Muslim Moro millennials of Barangay Bincungan Tagum City Davao del Norte. This study examined a controversial topic within the context of Islamic beliefs and principles, which is quite a disputatious and such a sensitive topic.

This phenomenal issue in belief and principle is still way active and flourishing up until this present time and being troubleshooted wrong by the knowledgeable and Muslim fundamentalist but still confidently set to daily context by the traditionalists whom upholding the principle of practicing such traditional beliefs and practices which falls to prohibited acts and faith not stated in the Quran and not done and performed by the prophet PBUH down to his companions, peace be upon them all. The purpose of this study is to examine and determine the effects of traditional beliefs and practices of the Kagan Tribe on the Muslim Moro millennials of Barangay Bincungan Tagum City.

The study used the mixture of methodologies consisting the qualitative and quantitative research methods. Through the use of the research methods, the research found that there are still people, more or less who practice such traditional beliefs and practices and incorporate them in the Islamic principle. But in the other hand, majority of the respondents condemn and not practicing these non-Islamic acts into their life. Some also responded that they don't know that these beliefs and practices are prohibited Islamically leading them to act and practice it. Most of the respondents considered these beliefs and practices as threat, some say it gives cultural pride and harmful, adaptable or non-adaptable and adds beauty to Islam in every respondent's viewpoint. Based on the findings, the study come up with the recommendations that there must be an action to increase awareness and conduct Dawah in the community of Barangay Bincungan Tagum City. Must administer additional support from the local and international Muslim groups of Dawah to educate the community most especially the youth. Support from the local government unit of Tagum City for the additional financial assistance of the active Dawah Group in Barangay Bincungan Tagum City. Conduct more symposiums and seminars in the community. Integrating the youth and educating the community on the difference of culture and religion.
