Abstract

The creation of the Basic Ecclesial Community in Purok Maligaya, Barangay San Jose, impacted the spiritual aspects of the members of the community and helped shape the established order of the place.

This study aimed to acquire the information on the creation of GKK Saint Michael the Archangel, the basis of the proponents on choosing their patron, and the challenges and problems met by the GKK members and officials from the start of the process up to the present. This study used a qualitative data collection method, combining descriptive and historical approaches.

The result of the study revealed that the GKK Saint Michael was formerly part of Holy Cross Parish. The GKK also followed the usual manner for its establishment: ensuring that the area had several more than 30 family units and sufficient knowledge for the officers to support the continuance of the GKK. The study also revealed the basis of the chosen patron: (1) it was for agricultural aspects of the place; (2) for security; and (3) a guardian of peace. It also revealed different problems experienced by the GKK: (1) member inactivity; and (2) financial constraints.

Therefore, this study concluded that it should highly emphasize the importance of GKK's continuance. The connection between the reduction of devotees and the chapel's financial support played the central dilemma. Appropriate action should be a plan to aid the problems met by the GKK.
