THE CREATION AND CARRYING ON OF GKK SAN VICENTE FERRER, SHUTTLE GRAPES, BARANGAY SAN JOSE, GENERAL SANTOS CITY

This study is about the creation and carrying on of GKK Sr. San Vicente Ferrer; GKK Sr. San Vicente Ferrer is a 28 year old GKK located in Purok Shuttles Grapes, Barangay San Jose, General Santos City. It is one among the 46 GKKs supervised by Our Lady of Fatima Parish since 2008 upon the creation of this parish. This study was conducted to determine the reasons why the Catholic Church stirred up the creation of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs), how did the members of GKK chose their patron saint and why a patron saint or devotion was needed in the creation of GKK. Also, the importance of GKK to its members and to the parish, the constraints met and the solutions undertaken to carry on the GKK were discussed in this study. Further, this study examines the importance for both GKK and the parish to constantly interact to each other. In achieving the objectives of this study, the researcher interviewed resource person about this GKK like Old and New Pastoral Counsil officers and members. This study finds out that the Catholic Church stirred up the creation of Basic Ecclesial Communities (BECs) to bring the Word of God and the Eucharist closer to the people. GKK Sr. San Vicente Ferrer was categorized as an fairly active GKK because of its lapses in Parish's activities. Having a poor financial background, GKK Sr. San Vicente Ferrer cannot finance the expenses going back and forth to the parish.
