Every Basic Ecclesial Community (BEC) or GKK that exists in Purok 17A FVR village, General Santos City has created impacts not just on the spiritual aspect of the residents of the place but it helped in shaping the status quo of Barangay Fatima as well as its history (the written or not). This study aimed to explore and discover the creation of a basic ecclesial community at Purok 17A FVR Village, Barangay Fatima, General Santos City, the steps in its approval to become the official BEC and the reasons why these particular Saints were chosen. Anent to this, the results of this research will further suggest the most appropriate communicative history. This study employed a qualitative approach utilizing the descriptive and historical approaches in research in gathering data. The result of the study revealed that the GKK Santiago 4 built-in Purok 17A FVR village was were processed to become official all in the same manner: an assembly of the residents were made for the selection of the patron saint the, election of the GKK officials and for the creation of their churches/chapels. The study also revealed the reasons why they chose their patron saints: (1) it was the decision of the majority; (2) it was the original patron saint of the residents' places of origin; and (3) personal devotions.
Therefore, this study concluded that the pioneers of this place worked in a 'Bayanihan' spirit in the creation of the GKKS with a democratic approach of
governance.
Furthermore, the selections of the particular saints a patron on were based upon whose
persona the residents want to follow and pray.
