Abstract

The GKK San Juan Magbubunyag and GKK St. Paul of the Cross made a
massive difference in the Catholic lives of the members of their respective communities, improving the performance and status of GKKS.
This study aimed to recall how these GKKS were established, from the requirements to the processes they made to make it happen, how they chose their patron saints, the activities within the parish and the GKK, the significance of these GKKs to the members and the parish, and the constraints they encountered and the solutions do. The study showed that in GKK San Juan Magbubunyag, the people are eager
to build their GKK to practice their Catholic Faith. Before the election of their major officers, seminars were held to orient the members about the tasks they were about to have. The GKK was under the Holy Cross Parish and eventually transferred to Our Lady of Fatima Parish for more convenience. Patron St. John the Baptist is picked twice through a raffle, the reason why they ended up with him. In this study, it is mentioned that the constraints they encountered through the years are difficulty in gathering the members, and the compliance of requirements like conduct of baptism.
Meanwhile, in GKK St. Paul of the Cross, the study revealed that the GKK was once under the GKK Birhen sa Medalla Milagrosa, but the members decided to have their own GKK. They were once under the Holy Cross Parish as well and then later transferred to Our Lady of Fatima Parish. They constructed their chapel at the lot area given by the Passionist priests before, and the materials were all reused, so they did not spend much money. The first set of officers were the ADHOC officers, and in the succeeding years, they decided to elect major officers. St. Paul of the Cross was the patron saint selected by the Passionist priests who were visiting them frequently before. They decided not to change it and have it as their patron saint as well. This study also revealed that the officers were challenged with how they should approach their members and guide them. Like GKK San Juan Magbubunyag, the members of this GKK had difficulty complying with the requirements of the parish, such as the need for baptism.
In conclusion of this study, GKK San Juan Magbubunyag and GKK St. Paul of the Cross were successfully established through the volunteerism and Bayanihan system of the members. As for the selection of their patron saints, it is visible that they can choose in any way the members want as long as the 11 majority agrees. After all, establishing these GKKS is of big help for the members to continue practicing Catholic
Faith.
