Abstract

This study dealt with the creation of GKK Christ the King at Purok 18 Employees Village, Barangay Fatima General Santos City. Specifically, this study sought to answer the following questions (1) Why does the Catholic Church stir up creation of GKK? (2) What does this tell us about the importance of a GKK among its members and the Parish? (3) How was the GKK created, and why does it need a patron saint or devotion? (4) Why is it essential for both the GKK and the Parish to constantly interact? (5) What were the constraints met and the effective attention to carrying on the GKK interview? The researcher conducted interviews to complete the gathered data for this study.
The historical background of GKK Christ the King in Purok 18 - Employees Village, Barangay Fatima General Santos City started from a need and desire of the people to have a nearer chapel to practice their faith. Its creation underwent a laborious process from (1) determination of a lot, (2) choosing the devotion approved by the Parish, which was essential to give identity to their chapel (3) indicating enough members (who are willing to undergo seminars/formation), and (4) sending a letter for approval to the parish priest. The study revealed that its officers, ministry personnel, and lay members helped one another to be able to build their own GKK chapel in the area.
This historical study of a particular GKK indicated that a living church was composed of people unified by their faith.
