THE BLAAN COMMUNITY OF PUROK 28 BARANGAY FATIMA, GENERAL SANTOS CITY AND ITS CHALLENGES

The purpose of this study was to identify who are the blaan residents of purok 28, Brgy. Fatimay General Santos City, and their challenges in the community using a qualitative method of research applying historical and descriptive approach. The researcher has done the ocular investigation, used key informant interview, and documentary analysis to present the gathered data in a contemporary setting. It aims to know the condition of their community as an indigenous people. The researcher conducted interviews in order to complete the gathered data for this study.
Purok 28 Barangay Fatima was a newly recognized purok. It is one of the lands that the Gawan family claimed as their ancestral domain. Some parts of the purok have no electricity and water supply. Blaan people are the major group of people in the purok. Purok 28 has just started its journey in aiming to be a developed functioning purok of Barangay Fatima.
