THE CREATION AND CARRYING ON OF GKK OUR LADY OF FATIMA IN PUROK 11-A, BARANGAY FATIMA, GENERAL SANTOS CITY

The Emergence of Christianity gives birth to the Basic Ecclesiastical Communities (Gagmay'ng Kristohanong Katilingban) in every province, barangay, and even purok in the Philippines. This created a massive impact on the life of the worshipper in different aspects of their life, including spiritual, physical, social, emotional, and mental aspects. This study aims to focus on the Creation of the Purok 11-A, Barangay Fatima, the discovery of their Patron of Saints and the factors that lie with its reverence, the activities that help strengthen the members and the GKK, the conflicts they have encountered in the process and how they overcome it. In line with this, the result of this study will further imply the most appropriate and reliable history. This study also employed a qualitative approach utilizing descriptive and historical approaches in gathering the data.
The result of the study revealed that the creation of GKK in Purok 11-A was motivated by the growing population of the members, which drives the parish to separate- going through a series of processes before it was officially established. The study also revealed that the choice of Patron of saints was determined by two factors: (1) The former President Anita Albaro explained that the Virgin Mary appeared in one of her dreams, which they take as a symbol (2) It was a solicited decision of the members to choose Virgin Mary as their Patron of Saints. It was found out at the end of the study that the member actively participates in different activities that were organized by the Parish and GKK, which helps strengthen the members and their faith. It was revealed also that they have met constraints that challenge their relationship and the GKK, however, these constraints were overcome through understanding and
mediation.
Therefore, this study concluded that the GKK helps the community in Purok 11-A in many aspects of their life. It emboldens the belief of the members, unifies them, and it greatly contributes to their individual growth.
