Abstract

The Catholic Church stirred up the creation of the Gagmayng Kristohanong Katilingban (GKK) to establish another parish. It was founded to gather the people and spread the good news. Furthermore, due to the autonomy the GKK possesses, they handle their community and conduct activities that cater to each member's spiritual and material
needs.
This study dealt on the creation of GKK San Vicente Ferrer at Purok 11, Barangay Fatima, General Santos City. Specifically, this study is sought to answer the following questions (1) why the Catholic Church stirs up the creation of GKK? (2) What does this tell us about the importance of a GKK among its members and the Parish? (3) How was the GKK created, and why does it need a patron saint or devotion? (4) Why is it important for both the GKK and the Parish to interact constantly? (5) What are the views of the Parish GKK Ministry Coordinator about this GKK? and (6) What were the constraints met, and the effective attention was undertaken to carry on the GKK interview? The researcher conducted interviews to gather and complete the needed data for this study.
The historical background of GKK San Vicente Ferrer, Purok 11, Barangay Fatima, General Santos City started from the GKK Immaculate Conception being split into two groups due to many members; which led to the creation of GKK San Vicente Ferrer. Its creation underwent a process of (1) sharing a chapel with the GKK Immaculate Conception, (2) collecting funds in order to purchase a lot wherein they can build their chapel (3) being unable to purchase their lot due to insufficient funds, and (4) settled with sharing a chapel with the GKK Immaculate Conception until now. The study showed that its officers and members helped each other, gave their community their chapel, and communicated with the GKK Immaculate Conception to make things work between the
two groups.
Furthermore, the participation of the GKK San Vicente Ferrer contributed to the parish and its events, which resulted in successful milestones and, at the same time, strengthened the relationship of their members with the Lord. Lastly, the researcher figured out that the GKK San Vicente Ferrer did not give up despite the problems and conflicts they faced, and due to their persistence and faith, they found ways how to make things work with their co-occupants while maintaining a good relationship with them and being able to conduct their activities.
This historical study of a particular GKK stipulated that a church was composed of people who gathered because of their faith and desire to spread the good news.
