The Affective Filter Hypothesis by Stephen Krashen declares that a high affective filter such as anxiety, low self-esteem, and lack of motivation can cause a mental block preventing the successful acquisition of a second language. This study determined the level of Affective Filter and the English Language Proficiency of 4th Year – BSED Mathematics students at Mindanao State University, General Santos City. It investigated the significant relationship between the students' level of Affective Filter and their English Language Proficiency by using the formula of Pearson Correlation Coefficient (Pearson r). The data revealed that the students are highly motivated to learn the English language, yet most of them are still having anxiety whenever they have to use English in and out of their classroom. Also, they must improve their English Proficiency because some of them are still hardly proficient. Lastly, this study showed a positive correlation between the students' level of Affective Filter and their English Proficiency. However, it was not strong enough to consider it significant.
