Abstract

YouTube is a component of an informal setting for learning English as a second language, as it enables students to acquire English from a variety of sources other than school. The current study is designed to investigate the incorporation of YouTube videos to supplement the vocabulary learning of grade 1 pupils in Alabel Central Integrated SPED Center in Alabel, Sarangani Province. This study examined the performance of twenty (20) grade 1 pupils' vocabulary learning via watching eight (8) YouTube in a course of four (4) weeks. The study used a pretest-posttest instrument where it also evaluated the significant difference between the pretest and posttest performance of the twenty (20) grade 1 pupils. The study used paired or matched t-test to analyze the data. The study found out that the performance of the grade 1pupils after watching YouTube videos is significantly higher than their performance before the incorporation of YouTube videos. Results suggest that YouTube videos are valuable supplement in support of the pupil's English vocabulary learning.
