THE READING COMPREHENSION OF GRADE 9 STUDENTS IN GENERAL SANTOS CITY NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

Abstract

The main focus of the study was to describe students' levels of reading comprehension based on the three levels of comprehension skills. The respondent of this study were the Grade 9 of General Santos City National High School. Through random sampling 44 Grade 9 students were selected. It used a descriptive, quantitative method. In collecting the data, the researcher used a reading test based on the three levels of comprehension skills. The results showed that the Grade 9 students obtained the mean score of 5.945 described as poor in the inferential level while they obtained mean score of 13.05 and 15.91 described as good. Overall, the mean score of Grade 9 students is 11.63 described as fair. Based from the results, the researcher compiled reading activities and exercises resulting more examples on the inferential level.
