JUDY ANN O. LAHOY-LAHOY
Abstract

This research optimally deals with the women in the Old Testament of the Bible which aimed to determine that these female main characters are considered heroines, including their character traits and struggles. Subsequent to this, Maureen Murdock's Heroines Journey was used in generating and identifying these characters to be qualified as heroines in following its stages and discussed how they carry out well during their time. The data used in the study were all the female main character in the Old Testament of the Bible. This included (1) Eve (2) Sarai/Sarah (3) Rachel (4) Leah (5) Rahab (6) Hannah (7) Deborah (8) Ruth (9) Abigail and (10) Esther. With the notions of the struggles and conflicts they had faced, these determined them and considered them as Heroines. Set by methodology, the struggles of these women mirror the social realities of the Israelite Society in the time of the Old Testament. Women in the Bible hence, are also considered important along with the men heroic forms of the Hebrew Literature: Bible.
