VOCABULARY SKILLS OF GRADE 7 STUDENTS IN BUAYAN NATIONAL HIGH SCHOOL

This study used descriptive design. Entitled Vocabulary skills of Grade 7 students in Buayan National High School, aimed to find the Respondents were the students, who attended classes having vocabulary classes. And find out kinds and factors of students difficulties in learning vocabulary. This study adapted by Prof. Norman Ralph B. Isla (2015). Findings showed that students still encounter learning, some difficulty in identifying finding for the correct word. All data were analyzed descriptively. The finding showed that the students still faced the problems or difficulties in vocabulary learning. Kinds of difficulties faced by the students in vocabulary learning were various. Some of students have difficulties by identifying the words. The different grammatical forms of words known as; familiarity of word was one of causes of students difficulties in learning vocabulary, In addition the students found difficulties in choosing the appropriate meaning of words and also still confuse in using words based on the context. The students were also confused when found words or expression that was idiomatic. There some factors that caused students difficulties, the number of words of students needs to learn is exceeding large, the limitations of sources of information about words involves much more than knowing its dictionary definition causes lack of understanding of grammatical words and incorrect pronunciation is often caused by the lack of similarity between English and students learning English
