Abstract

Test anxiety deals with the emotional aspect of every individual; basically, it affect the pupils' performance who suffer anxiousness. This study determined the levels of test anxiety and academic performance in English of Grade 6 pupils. It also correlated the two variables to find out if test anxiety influences the pupils' academic performance. It involved randomly selected one hundred thirty five (135) grade 6 pupils who were officially enrolled in Malapatan Central Elementary School, Malapatan Sarangani, Province, during the school year 2019-2020. The data were gathered using Test anxiety Questioner by Richard Driscoll, Ph.D. The statistical treatments employed in the analysis were frequency distribution, weighted mean, and Person Product Moment Correlation Coefficient. The results showed that the level of test anxiety of pupils is average and their academic performance level in English is poor. Furthermore, it was also revealed that there is no significant relationship between the pupils' level of test anxiety and grades in English. Therefore, it is concluded that there are other factors that influence the academic performance of pupils.
