BREAKING THE STEREOTYPES: CONFIDANTS IN MARVEL FILMS

This study is qualitative in nature that utilizes content analysis. The Study uses Formalistic Approach and Characterization in distinguishing the confidant characters and examining their characteristics using the textual evidence that is present in the movies: Iron Man 1, Spider Man: Homecoming, and Captain America: The First Avenger. Using the assumptions of characterization, the confidants become a supplementary character to the films as they have imparted certain important qualities that help the film come into a success. Pepper Potts, Ned Leeds and Peggy Carter were the confidants who are seen as an insignificant character in the films. Though the viewers classified them insignificantly, the confidants had a convincing action in the film which strengthened the protagonists character and also built up the successful outcome of the film. Therefore, confidants have pressed a difference on the story lines of the film which concede them as a significant character.
