Reading comprehension is a complex structure that involves knowledge and skills that must be coordinated simultaneously in order to accomplish many reading tasks, especially in Narrative and Informational Text. This study aims to assess student's reading comprehension skills in Narrative and Informational Text from the most difficult to the least difficult throughout the school year 2020-2021 at Fatima National High School. To determine the level of reading comprehension skills of Grade 9 students, the researchers conducted an interview with Grade 9 English teachers using a Survey and Questionnaire of Reading Comprehension of Grade 9 followed by a rating sheet.
The result showed that the difficult competency in reading comprehension skills includes "Getting information from various print media", and "Sensing the difference between linear and nonlinear text", with a total score of 15 and a percentage of 60% which result in difficult competency in the rating scale description. Whereas, the moderately difficult skill is "Matching diagrams with their corresponding write-ups", which has the least competency on the rating scale, with a score of 12 points and a percentage of 48%. Since the result was solely for difficult and moderately difficult, there is no most difficult or least difficult competency.
