WOMEN IN FILM NOIR

This study intends to analyze the characteristics of the women in film noir movies, how these women are reflected in the films and how their characters affect the other characters. This paper used the four film noir movies from 1941 to 1955. This study is a content analysis using a formalistic approach. The results show these women of the film noir movies were antagonists, professionals, and driven by social status. These women were portrayed as the ones who seduce and manipulate the protagonist. Moreover, their character leads to others in compromising situations.
