Abstract

This study is qualitative in nature that employed content analysis to describe the Women in Power (Queens) in films. A formalistic approach was utilized to discuss the queens' traits, their struggles, how they overcame these struggles, and the concept of Women in Power in their reigns. The three main characters in the selected British Monarch Films are Elizabeth: The Golden Age, The Favourite, and Victoria and Abdul were analyzed based on their role and character traits, including their struggles and how they overcame them. It is concluded that the image of women in power influenced queens in representations on films during their reign, the same way their character traits were influenced by their portrayals. Queens battled different struggles in society and within themselves, and it was shown that being a queen is not easy and exhausting. And even though they had different struggles and character traits, they are indeed all strong. They were able to work on their struggles and continue to live on no matter how grueling their roles were during their reign.
