This study aimed to determine how memes generate its humor by violating the Conversational Maxims. The data used in this study are purely memes in image form. The memes used are the conversation memes from January 2019 to February 2020 retrieved from the website https://cheezburgercom. This study used qualitative method of research, using content analysis. Also, it discussed the humor that can be produced by the memes by violating the Maxims of Conversation. This study defines that in every violations in the Gricean Maxims of Conversation there is an additional meaning prior to the expected meaning. By utilizing these factors: alibis, lies, incongruity, rudeness, sarcasm, silliness, indirect speech, puns, absurdity and irony, as a part of their statement the meme created humor which might seem pleasing to its audience and because of the avoidance in using swear words that might be inappropriate for its younger audiences. Overall, we can use these violations in conversing with our peers or family if we are trying to tell them some funny and witty jokes. These memes were not just for entertainment but for every audience to analyse the hidden messages it might try to imply for it to become funny.
