Abstract

This study employed a quasi-experimental design to determine the effect of animated films as instructional materials on the vocabulary skills of the Grade 7 students of Lanton High School, S.Y. 2019-2020. This study used frequency count and percentage means to treat the collected data and Ebel's Criteria of Mastery to describe the level of vocabulary skills. Pre-test was administered to determine the level of vocabulary skills of the students before the intervention. The result showed that the students have low level of vocabulary skills with a mean percentage of (15.18). Post-test was administered to determine their level of vocabulary skills after the intervention, which showed that 17 students with a mean percentage of (38.636) have a moderate level. Over all, the students still have low level of vocabulary skills with a mean percentage of 22. It is also revealed that animated films as instructional materials have a significant effect on the vocabulary skills of the students as supported by the t-value of 1.69 and p-value of 0.0446. This study recommends the use of Animated Films as instructional materials for a longer period to enhance the student's vocabulary skills.
