Abstract

The field study entitled growth and yield of mungbean (Vigna radiata L. Wilczeck) as affected by different levels of vermiwash was conducted to differentiate the overall performance of mungbean in response to different levels of vermiwash fertilizer through foliar application and determine the appropriate level for mungbean. The study was conducted at the thesis area of the College of Agriculture, Mindanao State University from August to October 2019. The experiment was arranged in a Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) with five treatments and replicated three times. The treatments used were different levels of vermiwash solution per liter of water: No application, 150ml, 250ml, 350ml of vermiwash and 150ml of organic fertilizer (IMO) respectively. Response of mungbean to these levels of vermiwash was evaluated by using the following growth and yield parameters of mungbean, such as shoot height, length of leaves, number of pods, length of pods, number of seeds per pod, root length, bean recovery, weight of 1000 seeds and bean yield. Results of the study showed that the number of pods per plant, bean recovery and bean yield were significantly affected by vermiwash application. The rate of 350ml vermiwash per liter of water as foliar application had to attained optimum yield of mungbean.
