Abstract

A study to determine the effects of malunggay leaf extract(MLE) was conducted to evaluate the feed consumption, live weight gain, water intake, mortality, feed conversion ratio, and economics of producing Cobb broilers from November 15, 2016, to December 20, 2016, at the College of Agriculture Poultry Project, Mindanao State University, Fatima, General Santos City. The study was given Tı (control), T2(5%MLE), and T3(10%MLE) in the water ratio. The experimental design used is a completely randomized design (CRD) with 3 treatments and replication composed of four birds. The feed consumption and total weight gain of broilers in the study were statistically comparable at different treatments. The addition of MLE in the water ration has a slight improvement to the birds' performance though not statistically significant. In this study, birds with 0% MLE obtained the highest IOFCC of P31.28/bird followed by birds with 10% MLE with P27.60/bird; the treatment with the lowest IOFCC was with 5% MLE added to their water ration with P24.71/bird. No mortality was observed during the study. The researcher does not recommend Malunggay (Moringa oliefera lam.) Leaf Extract (MLE) to the water ratio in Cobb broilers.
