Grade 12 Students Writing Skills Basis for the Construction of a Workbook

This study looked Into the writing skill level. in English of the Grade 12 students in teams of usage and mechanics considering the components of punctuation, sentence structure, and grammar as well as in arms of rhetoric considering the components of style, strategy, and organization. a ceded the CAAP wiling teat as the instrument in determining the writing skill levels. The findings revealed that the students had either FAIR or POOR writing ski levels as retracted by their mean scores In the following components and description: Punctuation is FAIR; Sentence Structure is POOR. Grammar. Usage and Mechanics are FAIR; Style is POOR; Strategy is FAIR; and Organization is POOR. This means that the students lacked proficiency in writing in English which also implies that they are not ready for their academic lives in college. These findings were used as the basis n developing a workbook in writing. The workbook is composed of two parts. Part 1 contains wadies which aim to improve students' skills In Metolic. while Part 2 contained activities and practice exercises to enhance their skills in usage and mechanics. The developed workbook was subjected to content and adaptability validity by five English teachers in Senior High Schott who are master's degree holders and It was found acceptable for classroom use.
