The effectiveness of placing the newly designed exhaust ventilation device installed at the top of the chimney in increasing the inside air flow velocity was investigated in the experiment. Numerical data are gathered for the comparison of inside air flow through the solar chimney with and without the ventilation device.
The velocity of the inside air is simultaneously recorded with the outside or surrounding air velocity for each trial using I-lot Wire Anemometer and Portable Digital Anemometer. The tabular presentations of data of two setups, one with the ventilation device and one without, are then are presented and the linear relationship between outside and inside air is seen.
It is observed that the inside air velocities are higher when the exhaust or ventilator device is connected compared to the setup without it. Experimental results indicate that the designed ventilation device, installed at the top of the solar chimney can significantly increase the inside air flow velocity through the chimney.
