DEVELOPMENT AND VALIDATION OF VIEWING COMPREHENSION WORKBOOK FOR GRADE 10 STUDENTS

This study aimed to develop and validate a viewing comprehension workbook to enhance and strengthen the viewing comprehension competencies of Grade 10 students. Through an interview with the Grade 10 English teachers, the study found out that the most difficult viewing comprehension competency for the Grade 10 student was detecting bias and prejudices. The viewing comprehension competencies with moderate difficulty were drawing conclusions and generalizations, and determining how connected events contribute to the totality of the material viewed. Assessing the effectiveness by taking into account its purpose and using previous experiences as a scaffold to the message conveyed was the second least cult competency, and the competency of expressing insights was the West difficult among the six. These were then the basis of the researchers in developing a viewing comprehension workbook. The workbook consists of 15 videos and 40 tasks. Subsequently, the workbook was validated in terms of content, presentation, and appropriateness by three Grade 10 English master teachers. The result of the validation has shown that the developed viewing comprehension workbook was highly acceptable in terms of content and appropriateness and very highly acceptable in teens of presentation
