Barangay Fatima is one of the 26 barangays in General Santos City. This barangay has ranked two (2) of the most populated barangays in General Santos City as of June 2015 with a total population of 66,460 residents. With increasing population come increasing engineering-related needs and problems to be addressed by the local government and other concerned institutions. However, there exist very little data describing engineering-related problems and needs of the residents of the said barangay. To address the aforementioned problem this study was conducted to find out the engineering-related problems and needs in Barangay Fatima through benchmark surveying. A sample size of 268 respondents was taken to represent the population of 66,460 residents. The descriptive method of research was utilized and the normative survey technique was used for gathering data. The questionnaire served as the instrument for collecting data. Data gathered through the questionnaire was subjected to frequency counts. The results were then tabulated and analyzed using the percentage method. The results revealed that most residents find poor drainage systems with a percentage of seventy-two point four (72.4 %), poor condition of public markets with a percentage of fifty-nine point three(59.3%), poor road condition and maintenance with a percentage of fifty-nine (59%), poor solid waste management, poor control of dust, mud trash at the construction site with a percentage of fifty-five point two (55.2%) and inadequate parking facilities fifty-three point seven (53.7%) are the most critical problems encountered in Barangay Fatima.
