Abstract

The study was conducted to determine the effects of different levels of Mayana (Coleus blumei) leaf meal added to commercial ration on Cobb broiler chicken growth performance. Parameters 'measured were feed consumption, weight gain, feed conversion ratio, mortality rate and income over feed and chick cost using 36, day-old broiler chicks. The study was laid out in Completely Randomized Design with four treatments replicated three times and three birds each replication. The treatments were the levels of Mayana leaf meal (MLM) added in the commercial ration. Results of the study showed that the different levels of Mayana leaf meal have no significant effect on feed consumption, weight gain, and feed conversion ratio. There was no mortality of birds during the conduct of the study. The birds with 0% MLM obtained the highest IOFCC (P52.44), followed by birds with 10% MLM (P49.32), Birds with 5% MLM had P46.86 while those birds fed with15% MLM obtained the lowest IOFCC (P45.58).
