Abstract

A study of the effects of 0, 5, and 10% CBM added to the commercial ration as treatments on the growth of native chicken were replicated three times using 36 birds and arranged in a Completely Randomized Design. Birds given without DBM in the ration has the highest feed intake (5.43 kg/ bird). while the lowest feed intake was observed in birds given with 5% CBM (4.78 kg/bird) and 10% CBM (4.78 kg/bird). The live weights of the birds without CBM in the ration were .88 kg/ bird. Birds with 5% CBM in the ration have a live weight of.69 kg/ bird while birds with 10% CBM in the ration have .67 kg/bird. Birds fed without CBM requires 6.21 kg of feeds to gain 1 kg of live weight. Those birds fed with 5% CBM requires 6.91 kg of feeds to gain 1 kg of live weight while those bird with 10% CBM in the ration requires 7.15 kg of feeds to gain 1 kg of live weight, respectively. Throughout the conduct of the study, there was no mortality rate recorded. Income analysis showed that in this study, the product costs were much higher than the sales value of the birds. The birds given without CBM in the ration has the sales value of Php170.66/bird with a product cost of Php267.44/bird. Birds fed with 5% CBM in the ration has the sales value of Php 143.00/bird with a product cost of Php 240.71/bird. Birds with 10% CBM in the ration has the sales value of Php 141.00/bird with a product cost of Php 239.13/bird. Therefore, there was no income gained at the end of the study.
