Abstract

This study was conducted in order to provide a reference on costs of using modified asphalt concrete. Two modified asphalt concrete mixture was analyzed using the process of cost estimation of asphalt paving. Along with the conventional asphalt concrete, set as control, the three variations were evaluated on which of the most economical modification method for an asphalt pavement. The percentage of the modified asphalt concrete in used were 0.4% of crumb rubber replacement to aggregates for the asphalt with crumb rubber and 7% of coconut fiber replacement to aggregates for the asphalt with coconut fiber. The design parameters were based on Constructions Estimates by Max Fajardo while the prices were based on the DPWH South Cotabato 2nd DEO, Hing Yi Coconut Husk Processing Plant and on the Pagulong Rubber Enterprising. The study showed that Conventional Asphalt is best used for asphalt pavement because it's the most economical and it's convenient to use.
