Abstract

Being in the engineering field, it is our job to solve problems that require our particular skills. Unlike scientists, engineers devise solutions with consideration to its effects on the community. Most of the problems that an engineer solve comes from the community itself. Giving importance to the communities' condition is an engineering ethic that should be respected. This research aims to determine engineering related problems and needs of the communities particularly in barangay San Jose, General Santos City. Its remoteness and the presence of a large number of indigenous people in this area makes it an interesting place to conduct the study. If development projects and skills training should be conducted, this place may need it the most. The people and the place itself should not be left behind by the developments happening in the more developed parts of the city. Engineers with the help of the government officials may offer help in these parts of the city where even the basic commodities of life are scarce.
