Abstract

Time is a fundamental constituent in an ongoing construction. It is always a top priority of the project engineers or contractor to accomplish the construction without delay. The most common type of block used in every construction is the concrete hollow blocks (CHB). The concrete hollow block is made primarily of Portland cement, aggregates usually sand, water and certain additives. This traditional practice entails a lot of man hour labor for its preparation and needs further reinforcement. Pre-cast concrete panel is a reinforced panel with pre-designed sections and surface and itis recommended as an innovative material to be used instead of CHB in fence construction. Precast Concrete Panel could showcase a faster way of construction method and could produce a more cost saving material to be used than the conventional Concrete Hollow Block. The main objective of this study is to make comparative cost analysis between the utilization of Pre-cast Concrete Panel to the traditional concrete hollow block fence construction and show that Pre-cast Concrete panel is a more economical and time efficient building material than concrete hollow block. The researcher used surveying, interviewing and ocular observation in gathering data. In constructing a fence using precast concrete panel as building material, a lesser amount of total expenses is required than using concrete hollow blocks. The construction of PC panel fence is faster compared to construction of CHB fence. Thus, it can be concluded from these findings that the use of precast concrete panel in construction will save more time than using concrete hollow blocks. Therefore, precast concrete panel is a more effective and time efficient material than concrete hollow block.
