Abstract

Developed in this study is a trainer-type wireless monitoring and control system using WIFI technology for an off-grid PV system. The objective Is to design a wireless approach to monitoring important electrical properties of a solar charging station and also controlling wirelessly said developed using a 270-wan solar panel which Is used to charge two (2) 12-volt maintenance-free car batteries connected In series using a modified PWN solar-charge controller design. Incorporated in the design of the (brains) module and ESP8266-12E WIFI module as the two-way communication arm of the station. A lot of efforts were focused on coding the monitoring and control in the charging station and very little modified application is developed to monitor in real-time (with graphical output) the electrical data sent from the charging station while at the same time, logging said data to a file. Also, from the same application, the charging station solar panel, the battery, and/or the load. There is a need for the central station to connect first to the charging station with its WIFI module acting as an access point before information can be exchanged between the two effects of the wireless transfer of electrical data from the charging station to the central station for monitoring and logging purposes. Also, the central station so as controls of the charging station. Limitations in this work include unsuccessful efforts to calibrate values of electrical data measured in the charging station and conduct of experiments for a very long time to test for the reliability of the whole system.
