A PSYCHIC: ANALYSIS OF THE PROTAGONIST IN THE SERIES OF THE MENTALIST

This study is qualitative in nature that employed content analysis. The study utilized Formalistic Approach to analyze the characteristics of the protagonist in the series and how he used his skills and talents to solve cases as a Mentalist in the series. The result showed that the protagonist was characterized as calm, intelligent, trustworthy, wise, and has the eagerness to catch the killer of his wife and daughter. He has great skills in observation and a talent for guessing the truth by hypnotizing. He helps to solve cases as he uses his skills and talents as a mentalist. He led to help the CBI in solving crime cases because he wants to catch the killer of his wife and daughter. As a mentalist in the series, he used his skills in observation to know the truth by analyzing the words used by the people, observing the actions of the people, and by using his senses in finding things that can help to solve the cases. Jane really loves his wife and daughter and that's why he was eager to catch the serial killer named Red John. As he joins the CBI, he never stops to find the truth to give justice to the loved ones of the victims because he knew the feeling of losing someone in who is very important in your life.
