The study was carried out to examine the factors affecting the adoption of organic rice farming in Koronadal City, South Cotabato. There were a total of 49 organic rice farmers in the city thus, a total enumeration was done. Moreover, 49 conventional rice farmers were selected through a random sampling procedure. Data were collected from the respondents through personal interviews with a structured survey questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, cost and return analysis, and binary logistic model. In terms of age, the majority of the farmer adopters are older than the farmer non-adopters. With regard to experience in farming. they have more or less the same years of experience.
The profitability analysis shows that conventional rice farming has an average net income (per hectare per year) of P69.940.00, with a gross profit margin of 1.901 and ROI of 90%. On the other hand. the average net income of organic farming is iP69,100.00, with a gross profit margin of 1.9 and ROI of 96%. Hence, organic rice farming is more profitable. Attributes such as the number of organic farming-related seminars attended, income from rice farming, and rice farm area are highly significant at 0.005, 0.029, and 0011. respectively. Thus, there are factors that affect the adoption of organic rice farming.
