Abstract

Okra, scientifically known as Abelmoschus esculentus L.is a herbaceous annual plant that belongs to the family of Malvaceae and is widely grown primarily for its soft immature fruits or pods. And it is also known as Lady\'s finger in English. The study, “Effects of different levels of bokashi made from coco peat, manure, and carbonized rice hull on the growth and yield of okra (Abelmoschus esculentus L.) was conducted to evaluate the response of okra to different levels of Bokashi and to determine the level that could give optimum yield. The study was conducted at the college of Agriculture Experimental area, Mindanao State University, Fatima General Santos City from September 2019 to December 2019.A Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used in the study with four treatments replicated three times as follows: (T1)-Control + /2 RR Inorganic (14-14-14 Kg NPK/ha); (T2)-5 t/ha Bokashi + 1/2 RR (14-14-14 Kg NPK/ha); (T3)-10 t/ha Bokashi +1/2 RR (14-14-14 Kg NPK/ha) and (T4)- 20 t/ha Bokashi +1/2 RR(14-14-14 Kg NPK/ha).The result revealed that different levels of Bokashi had significantly affected the plant height, number of fruits and weight of fresh fruits of okra but not on flowering period, length of fruits and fruit yield of okra. Using 5tons/ha of Bokashi +1/2 RR 14-14-14 Kg NPK/ha is enough to improve growth and yield of okra and to take advantage for its long term effect on soil.
