Abstract

This study on the STORABILITY OF CUCUMBER (Cucumis sativus L.) PACKED IN WITH VARRIED NUMBER OF VENT HOLES UNDER REFRIGERATED AND NON-REFRIGERATED CONDITION was conducted in MSU compound Brgy. Fatima General Santos City from January 14 to March 7, 2019 to determine the storability of cocumber as influenced by packing in plastic bag with varied number of vent holes and refrigeration conditions. A two-factorial experiment in a Complete Randomized arrangement was used in this study. The factors which served as the treatments were: Factor A - Storage Condition (Refrigerated and Non-Refrigerated); and Factor B- number of vent holes (Control without plastic bag, control kept in plastic bag without vent holes, with four, six and eight vent holes). The treatments were replicated five times. It was found out that using plastic bag without vent holes and kept under refrigerated condition were the most appropriate post-harvest treatments that tended to improve the storability of cucumber.
