Abstract

Decomposers are important players in the decomposition process. Thus, this study aims to evaluate the efficacy, rate and yield of different biological decomposers. This study used a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with five (5) treatments and replicated three times. The treatments were as follows: T - (Control no decomposer); T2- (Trichoderma); T3- Homemade Indigenous Microorganism (IMO); T4.Commercial (IMO); and T5- African night crawler. The compost recovery and compost yield were highly significant at 1% level. However, the Final height, compost quality and Percent decrease were not significantly affected by different treatments used. The highest compost recovery and compost yield was observed in Ts (African night crawler) with a compost recovery of 23.92% and compost yield of 0.4 kg. Of all treatments, the African night crawler was the most effective decomposer. Thus, it is recommended to use African night crawlers for high compost recovery and compost yield.
